Abuse control is the key to the service
Our members will also have the following abuse control service:
- 10 minute "no answer" site lock
Once a courtesy call is completed, all the payphones in the same location will be "locked" from even answering another courtesy call request. This lock is to prevent abuse. Records have shown some callers will call right back after a courtesy call completion is concluded to try to make another courtesy call.
- 60 minute "no call completion" site lock
As a second precaution, once a caller completes a courtesy call, the payphone and complete site (if there are multiple payphones at the location) will be "locked" from completing another call for 60 minutes. Records have shown that some callers will attempt to use another payphone at the same location to complete another courtesy call. Only refunds and trouble tickets are available during the lock period.
- 60 day "same called number" lock
The called number will also be locked for 60 days from any member phone to prevent "smart" payphone abusers which use different phones to call the same number for free.
- Weekly call completion site limit
The weekly site limit controls the number of courtesy calls that are allowed from a specific site in a single week; if the limit is reached, the system will only allow trouble tickets and refund requests for a one week "probation" period.
- Automatic or manual site probation limits
The PSP can also call the automated ANI loading system and place a site on probation for 1-4 weeks. When a site is "on probation", only trouble ticket and refund requests are allowed.
- 180 day refund lock on the same address
Multiple refunds will not be sent to the same address for 6 months.
